The BRIMUN 2010 Team
BRIMUN is developed by a team of highly committed students and MUN enthusiasts. Those listed below are the leaders of many of the organizational committees that compose the BRIMUN team. Behind them, there are several minds that have dedicated much of their time to create our future conference. These are the people behind BRIMUN 2010!
Secretary General
Tariq Omarshah, Zimbabwe/USA
My name is Tariq and I am Zimbabwean. I study International Politics and History here at Jacobs University. I am very passionate about MUN and have participated in conferences around the world (across Europe and in Africa). BRIMUN 2010 is unique amongst other conferences in our individual approach and in our focus on assuring high level and quality debates. We are working hard to make BRIMUN 2010 a highly rewarding and stimulating experience and I look forward to meeting you in March! Come to BRIMUN, meet the world and make a difference!
Director General
Wiebke Drews, Germany
Passion, skills, communication and a lot of motivation- Together with a highly-qualified team I am looking forward to organizing one of the greatest events on our Jacobs Unversity campus: BRIMUN 2010. I am Wiebke and a second-year Integrated Social Sciences student. I have already been involved in the BRIMUN 2009 secretariat, valuing this experience, participating in the 2010 edition was not a question for me. BRIMUN 2010: Go for green and make a difference. Meet delegates from all over the world, discuss current global issues and experience the world of international politics and economy. We are working hard to make this conference the most unique and enthralling experience you will ever have. This spring, save the world and participate at BRIMUN 2010.
Under-Director General for Conference Affairs
Anna-Lena Schindl, Germany
My name is Anna-Lena Schindl and I am currently studying Physics in my first year at Jacobs University, where I also got to know a MUN society for the first time in my life. I was immediately fascinated by the concept, the interaction between the delegates and the knowledge one gains. To make BRIMUN 2010 another one of these unique experiences for you, I became part of the organizing team and am now proud to be your Under-Director General for Conference Affairs. That is, whenever you have trouble with accommodation, travel or your visa, don’t hesitate to contact me.
Under-Director General for External Affairs
Jessica Steinemann, Germany
My name is Jessica Steinemann and I am the Under-Director General for External Affairs of BRIMUN 2010. After having participated in BRIMUN 2009 as member of the Social Affairs Committee, I definitely wanted to become a member of the organizing team of BRIMUN 2010 again. As the position of the Under-Director General for External Affairs was newly created in this year’s edition of BRIMUN, I will take over mainly tasks of the Admissions and Conference Affairs teams and will work hard for making BRIMUN 2010 a more interesting and unique conference than ever before. Of course such a new position poses many challenges to me; however, I am very motivated to face them and give the position of the UDG for External Affairs a new face.
Under-Director General for Social Affairs
Dalia Chirila, Romania
The attractive locations of Bremen City –on land or on water- are only some of our resources. The energy comes from innovative ideas, passion and the prospects of the upcoming spring! The social affairs team is wisely making use of all these, by working on shaping the social life of this year`s conference into existence. The outcome promises to be thrilling! I am Dalia Chirila, second year student majoring International Politics and History and together with an enthusiastic team would like to invite you to be part of what will become an unforgettable experience: BRIMUN 2010! Looking forward to meeting you all!
Under-Director General for Public Relations
Kathleen Frazier, USA
I believe that every event, regardless of funding or size, has the ability to leave its participants completely blown over by overall appearance.
I want to be the person doing the blowing. After working with the Public Relations team for the previous BRIMUN, I realized what a difference a solid marketing scheme can make. I firmly believe that in today’s world, the way an interested party views the “public outreach” can make or break an event, business, or organization. I want to lead a team that can draw as many delegates as possible to BRIMUN, letting our work become a prelude to the wonderful event it can, and will, be. I’m Kathleen Frazier, and I am the Under-Director General for Public Relations.
Under-Director General for Financial Affairs
Abhinav Karki, Nepal
I am Abhinav originally from Nepal and I am the Under Director General for Finances of BRIMUN 2010. I am working towards having sufficient and well managed resources for the Conference in March/April 2010. Why I am interested in BRIMUN is because I believe that the idea of United Nation stands for having peaceful and cohesive relations between nations all over the world and BRIMUN fosters this notion in this multinational University ‘Jacobs’.
Under-Secretary General for Admissions
Nataliya Ovchar, Ukraine
I am Natasha Ovchar and I am a freshman studying International History and Politics and Psychology at Jacobs University. In my home country, Ukraine, I have participated in the Model of European parliament. Later, while studying in the USA, my interest in the MUN has increased, so here at Jacobs I have decided to be a part of BRIMUN 2010. The conference can be a very meaningful event for you, so I encourage everyone to apply to have a diverse group of participants. I am excited about meeting all the delegates from many countries and making this conference a really unforgettable event.
Under-Secretary General for Crisis
Sebastian Blümmert, Germany
If during the conference you suddenly feel that the world is not like you thought it was, do not despair - it simply means that my team is doing its job. At BRIMUN we are proud of our tradition of innovative crises, and I look forward to continuing our passion for disaster. With secrecy being a main part of my job description, I cannot tell you more about what my team and I are up to, except that even though you might never see us, we will provide you with one of your most challenging MUN experiences to date.
